"There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you." ~ Maya Angelou

Storytelling has a *heart touch* place in many of our families. It is a way to share in laughter, lessons learned, and marvel at the beauty of our signed language.

But what do we see when we look closely at the stories told about Codas? The story we tell as Codas? What do Codas say about their life?

What's this course about?

This 4-part series will guide participants through a critical look at Coda narratives. Participants will uncover existing narratives, examine who tells them and why, as they strengthen their own 'voice' to tell their own Coda story.

Audience: Hearing Signers with Deaf Parent(s)

Language: English

The Power of Narratives

We begin by looking at the purpose of narratives. What they say. Who is saying it. And more importantly 'why'.

It's all in a Story

We continue by examining existing Coda narratives and uncover themes and goals in context.

We Each Have a Story.

Finally, we close by uncovering our own Coda story.
